I have read the article. Taking in account that it explains the process of commercial distillery of Scotch and Ossetian Arak is mostly a home made drink, I found the recipes almost the same. 

There might be a good subject for historians to do researches.  

This coinsidence can lead back to ancient times, when large populations of Sarmatians and Alans migrated to Western Europe.
