Michail Baev (Baiaty)

Within the Ossetian military elite Michail Baev was notable for his versatile and various activities. He was the first Ossetian graduated from the Military Academy of General Staff. During his whole life he combined military service with considerable historical, ethnographical and topographical researches. For several years M.Baev worked as an officer of Finance Ministry. Then he was appointed to Head of the Topographical Services at the Defense Ministry.
Later on he was also appointed a Commander of the Bessarabian Military District. He headed two expeditions directed to Persia and Afghanistan to determine the State borders.
With all his business and dedication to the service, Michail Baev was an open minded, social and very kind person.
