Major-general, North Ossetian Minister of Emmergency Situations 

 

B.Dzgoev was born in Ordzhonikidze (now Vladikavkaz), North Ossetia in the family of a hereditary military officer. His father a WW2 veteran was honored with 5 orders and many medals. And his grandfather, a WW1 veteran was honored with 3 St.George’s Crosses. 

In 1971 Boris graduated from Kostromskoe Higher Military Chemical School and was directed to continue his military service in Hungary. Later on he served in many regions of the former Soviet Union: Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Transcaucasia.  

In 1979 he participated in a cruel and bloody war in Afghanistan. And everywhere B.Dzgoev held his service; he presented himself as an initiative and skilled commander of the military regiments. He was honored by the Soviet government several times.  

He also spent 11 months in the post-earthquake Armenian city Leninakan, helping solve the vital problems.  

In 1997 major-general Dzgoev was appointed to the position of Minister of Emergency Situations of Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
